I finally decided on a new tat. It took weeks of agonizing over where to put it and what design but i finally figured it out. Its not like picking out a new shirt or jeans ... its for life, its an expression of who I am ... it needs to be right!!
So i met with the tattoo artist, we chatted about the location and he mentioned that he would need to shave the area before the ink but once inked i would need to shave that area often to keep the design visible and pristine due to the fact that my back/shoulders are quiet hairy. Shaving your back by yourself isn't an easy, well, it is almost impossible and the tattoo is too large for any other area so now what??
Hire someone to shave my back every week ... i don't think so. I need a better solution. His suggestion was to book a consultation with Radiant Glo Medi Spa, see what they recommend.

A bit of research kept leading to Laser Hair Reduction and how it works very well in these situations. I booked and had a consultation with a medical aesthetician at Radiantglomedispa.ca who explained the entire treatment, we reviewed my medical history and any contraindications. This included an opportunity to do a couple of test pulses. I was really worried it was going to be very painful but after the test pulses it was more like a rubber band snapping at the skin or even less in some areas. I think I can handle that ... I'm a man on a mission. seems that if you have 6-8 treatments with a laser every 6-8 weeks apart, about a year in time it should reduce if not completely remove the hair.

The reason for the length of time between treatments is that there are several factors at play here. Hair grows in three stages and an individuals hormones offer different results so it takes fine tuning the settings of the medical laser and timing to ensure that the laser can target the pigment in the hair follicle to kill the bulb.
i wouldn't need to worry about my back hair taking over my new art. It turns out that once the ink is applied a laser, if it comes into contact with the ink, can fade and lift the ink leaving it patchy. Not something you want after all the effort put in to be ruined not to mention the cost ...
Well, i'm so happy i waited for my new ink till I had my medical laser hair reduction treatments completed at RadiantGloMediSpa. Not only do i love my tat, i have an added bonus of a hairless back ... ecstatic!!! I get to show off the new ink and not be embarrassed by the hair.
